Actually we are studying the unit called "Five Living Things Kingdoms" . We do some individual and group exercises and we also play some funny games to improve our knowledge about this subject.

It is so interesting because it could seem you are not studying but in fact you are learning a lot.

EGU-2012

El proper mes d'abril en Miquel Mas, professor de Ciències de l'Institut, assistirà com a representant de l'equip de professorat de l'àmbit científic-lingüístic (Scienglish) a la trobada general de geocientífics d'Europa EGU, on presentarà el treball competencial que realitzarem amb l'alumnat de primer d'ESO sobre el tema de l'aigua, amb el títol "Hydroroute 55". 

Aquest treball s'elabora gràcies a la subvenció atorgada per l'Ajuntament de Terrassa, en el concurs de Projectes educatius de Centres 2011-12 i en el marc del Projecte EDU2010-15783, atorgat pel MICINN al projecte “Discurso Académico en lengua extranjera: Aprendizaje y Evaluación de Contenidos Científicos en el Aula Multilingüe (DALE-APECS)” de la Facultat d'Educació de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) i coordinat per la Dra. Cristina Escobar Urmeneta.

La Trobada tindrà lloc a Viena (Austria) del 22 al 27 d'abril de 2012. Per més informació entreu a l'enllaç EGU

Col·laborem amb la UAB

L'Institut col·labora amb la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona  en el Projecte de Recerca del Ministeri d'Educació MICINN (R+D+i EDU2010-15783 project).: “Discurso Académico en lengua extranjera: Aprendizaje y Evaluación de Contenidos Científicos en el Aula Multilingüe (DALE-APECS)”. El    Projecte és coordinat per la Dra. Cristina Escobar Urmeneta.
Com a docents aportem la nostra experiència en l'àmbit científic-lingüístic SCIENGLISH, que estem portant a terme amb el nostre alumnat.
L'objectiu és analitzar i avaluar els resultats obtinguts en l'aplicació de les estratègies AICLE  a l'aula, elaborar propostes educatives innovadores transferibles a d'altres centres, i alhora millorar la nostra tasca docent.

A lab experiment: LET’S ANALIZE YEAST!

We are going to find out what conditions are best for the growth of yeast. We need 6 test- tubes, some yeast, some sugar, some water and some balloons. We put a small piece of dried yeast into each tube, we shake it to mix the content and we place a deflated balloon over the top of the tube. In one tube we put only yeast and in the others we add sugar and water (cold, warm or boiling)

A mind map

Do you know what a mind map is?
We are learning how to elaborate a mind map as a study strategy. It makes us think and understand all we learn in class.
It is so easy and helpful. You just think on a relationship between all the elements you know and..... draw a mind map.
For example: we start with LIVING THINGS and we add "they have three characteristic: Nutrition, Reproduction and Interactoon with the environment". Then we follow with all we know about nutrition and so on.
